History

In 1920, Charles H. Oestreich along with two partners founded Lander Co., Inc. Oestreich devised many innovative ways of manufacturing and distributing goods, inexpensive cosmetics, toiletries and perfumes targeted toward cost-conscious women. The company was the first cosmetic manufacturing firm to base its prices on the cost and overhead of an item instead of what it could bring in the market. Lander started marketing perfumes heavily in the 1930's and 1940's. Among the perfumes they introduced were "Romantic Days" in 1943, and "Samezi-Soir" in 1950. By the 1950's Lander owned and controlled over thirty brand names and four subsidiaries including Lundborg Perfumers Inc. and Mac Gregor Men's Toiletries Inc.

Since 1920, Lander Co., Inc., has been America's leading manufacturer of quality value-brand health and beauty care products, manufactures and distributes these fine health and beauty care products in one hundred ten countries. The two state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities are strategically located in Binghamton, NY and Toronto, Ontario.

In May 2005, Lander merged with Cenuco Inc. which develops wireless and internet based solutions for transmitting live streaming video and other targeted content.

In November 2005, Lander acquired a series of well recognized household brands from Playtex Products Inc. such as Baby Magic, Mr. Bubble and Binaca, Ogilvie, Tussy and Chubs.

In 2006, Lander changed its corporate name to Ascendia Brands Inc., to convey the forward looking spirit of a transformed company that looks for future growth through carefully targeted brand acquisitions that complement its strategy in the health and beauty care sector.

Over the years, Lander has always remained true to its core mission; providing high quality health and beauty care products at value prices. Today, as Ascendia Brands Co., Inc., we will proudly continue that tradition, also manufacturing and marketing recognized Premium Value national brands such as Baby Magic and Mr. Bubble.
